Sports drinks are all the rage right now. So many flavors, colors, and promises to keep you hydrated during a workout. They even use famous athletes to sell their products. If you drink their sport beverage you can become a high performing athlete too right? Not quite.
I am surprised that athletes even put this stuff in their bodies. I don’t know how our bodies can perform at high peak with sugar, artificial flavors, added chemicals, and petroleum based artificial colors galore. Some of these drinks even contain as much sugar as a regular soda.
I have a much better alternative that not only hydrates but tastes fantastic. This cucumber lime refresher is so refreshing. Only 3 ingredients, nothing artificial, and no sugar added. I would even enjoy drinking this with some sparkling water at a summer barbecue. It will help keep my hydrated in our Arizona heat.
Hydration is very important. Coconut water has a ton of electrolytes and potassium that will keep you hydrated and help prevent you from getting cramps in your muscles. Coconut water is completely natural and very low in sugar. I must say that I am not a big fan of the taste of coconut water all on its own but in this drink I couldn’t even taste it. - ½ cucumber
- 2 limes, peeled
- 1½ cups coconut water
- In a juicer, juice the cucumber and lime.
- Add the juice with the coconut water.
- Serve cold or over ice.
